An investment of €8.5 million has been completed for the full renovation of Hotel Colón, located opposite the Barcelona Cathedral. As a result, the property has achieved five-star status and adopted a new name: Lamaro Hotel.
The name change pays tribute to Antonio Lamaro, the hotel’s founder in 1951, and reflects the ambition to begin a new chapter as a benchmark for contemporary luxury in the Gothic Quarter.
In the 2022 financial year – the most recent with available data – the company that owns the hotel reported revenue of €9.3 million, representing a 244% increase compared to the previous year. Net profit reached €659,371, compared to losses of €1.7 million recorded in 2021.
The hotel offers 125 rooms. The interior redesign was carried out by the Barcelona-based design studio Espai 31.
